Charlotte County Public Schools (CCPS) received the Excellence in Business Award from the Charlotte County Economic Development Office in recognition of its efforts in workforce development and community leadership. Through the Portrait of a Graduate framework, CCPS is preparing students for post-graduation opportunities with a focus on “the Three Es: Employment, Enrollment, or Enlistment,” according to Charlotte County.

CCPS’s magnet programs are designed to align students with local industry needs, offering courses in fields such as Aviation Assembly at Charlotte High School and Applied Cybersecurity at Lemon Bay High School. In partnership with Charlotte Technical College, the district provides certifications and training in Automation and Robotics Technology at Port Charlotte High School.

The district’s efforts to align education with industry were cited by NAS MRO in its decision to open a facility at Punta Gorda Airport, bringing high-wage aviation jobs to Charlotte County. Officials stated that the local A&P program offered by CCPS was a key factor in the company’s decision to locate in the area.

Charlotte County Public Schools continue their efforts to prepare students for careers that contribute to the local economy. Maria Vastola, a district representative, can be contacted for more information regarding the schools’ programs and initiatives.
