Justin Sanders is currently being held on a $250,000 bail after a series of incidents in Clear Creek County led to multiple shots being fired and two separate shootings. According to the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office, the events unfolded on Thursday, October 9, beginning at the Western Inn Mobile Home Park.

The Sheriff's Office details that deputies were called to the scene just before 3:00 pm after receiving reports of shots being fired into a residential unit. Fortunately, the two individuals inside the home were not injured despite being fired upon. The suspect, who was later apprehended and identified as Sanders, had fled on foot. Clear Creek deputies, chasing reports, took the necessary precautions, issuing a shelter-in-place order and temporarily closing the I-70 frontage road, which stretched from Dumont to Empire, while the suspect was on the run.

Law enforcement from neighboring jurisdictions, including Idaho Springs Police and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, came to assist with a K-9 unit. It wasn't until 4:45 pm, when more information pointed to Georgetown, that the deputies located a vehicle believed to be associated with Sanders in the parking lot of the Georgetown Lodge. "The victim was not injured," as per the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office, Sanders fired shots from a second-floor balcony towards a person in the lot below.

Upon detaining Sanders without further incident, detectives confirmed he was responsible for both shootings. An associate of his was caught in the crossfire but released after being ruled out of involvement in the crimes. Sanders now faces serious charges, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of attempted second-degree homicide, among others.
