Community spirit was in full force over the weekend as Cobb County residents celebrated journeys of recovery at Laurel Park. The Second Annual Summer BBQ for the Cobb County Drug Treatment Court drew a crowd of more than 80 individuals, including participants, family members, and local supporters. According to a recent news release, attendees engaged in a range of activities such as face painting and basketball, in addition to enjoying a catered BBQ.
Partnerships with local organizations like the Marietta Metro Rotary Club, played a crucial role in the success of the event, with the club providing not just funds but also hands-on support. Another local business, A 2nd Chance Bail Bonds and Monitoring, volunteered at the family-friendly gathering, reinforcing the significant community backing for the initiative. "The Drug Treatment Court is more than an accountability program; it is a lifeline," Judge Jason D. Marbutt told Cobb County Government Communications.
The program emphasizes rehabilitation and recovery through counseling and support, designed to foster sustainable sobriety and stability. Program Coordinator Porsha Winfrey highlighted the importance of familial support, stating, "This event gives our program participants and graduates the chance to celebrate their progress with the people who matter most, their families," as mentioned on the Cobb County release. The sentiment was echoed by the event's turnout and shared moments among those gathered.
Cobb County Drug Treatment Court, continues to lean on such partnerships to uplift its participants and reaffirm that recovery is not a solitary venture.
