For those with a penchant for scenic beauty and a heart for environmental restoration, Colorado Springs has rolled out its 13th edition of the DiscoverCOS Calendar. As reported, the calendar features a collection of community-contributed photographs that capture the local landscapes in all their glory. More than 300 submissions poured in from over 100 amateur and professional photographers, eager to show off Olympic City USA's parks, trails, and open spaces.

In a new twist this year, residents who pick up this calendar for a suggested donation of $15 will be contributing directly to local reforestation efforts. Kim King, the PRCS assistant director, emphasized the dual benefit of this initiative. She stated, "We're especially proud that this year's calendar supports local reforestation efforts, allowing art and stewardship to come together for a lasting impact," as per the City of Colorado Springs, a sentiment that underlines the calendar's shift from being a mere collection of images to a vehicle for genuine environmental impact.

The recipient of this year's calendar proceeds is the Snyder Quarry in Black Canyon Open Space, a newly managed 163-acre ecological site. The funds are earmarked for tree planting, aimed at restoring native habitats and bolstering the environment's resilience. This step highlights a tangible commitment to the area’s ecological future, transcending the usual parameters of community projects.
