An Anaheim man, a previously convicted sex offender, was arrested by the Fullerton Police Department after the Irvine Police Department's social media post helped to connect him to similar offenses in the area. Jose Jesus Nava Caballo, 45, was apprehended for outstanding warrants related to lewd activity several hours after an incident reported in Irvine, according to an update from the Irvine Police Department's Facebook page.
The arrest was partly due to vigilance by a Fullerton PD detective, who saw the social media alert, that linked Nava to the other cases, demonstrating how regional law enforcement agencies, leverage digital platforms for collaborative crime-fighting efforts. The accused is currently being held at Orange County Jail, and coordinating efforts are ongoing between the Irvine and Fullerton police departments. The Irvine Police Department expressed gratitude towards the community for the vital tips provided which aided in the arrest, and they encourage other potential victims to step forward and contact their local law enforcement. "Thank you to the community for the tips you provided," the Irvine police statement emphasized.
Both police departments recognize the importance of community involvement when it comes to public safety and preventing crime. They utilized the hashtag #teamworkmakesthedreamwork to encapsulate their joint efforts.
The Fullerton and Irvine police departments are reaching out to the public for further assistance: anyone who may have been victimized by Nava or has additional information is encouraged to come forward.
