With the New York City mayoral race becoming intense, Curtis Sliwa has announced his intention to remain in the running. Despite lagging poll numbers and pressure from fellow Republicans, Sliwa has rejected calls to abandon his campaign and plans to vote for himself during early voting on Saturday. As per ABC 7 New York, the Republican candidate is maintaining his position.
The most recent poll data from Fox News shows Sliwa trailing with 14% of likely voters, compared to leading contender Zohran Mamdani at 52% and Andrew Cuomo at 28%. John Catsimatidis, Sliwa's employer at WABC Radio, has also urged him to step aside, according to a statement obtained by ABC 7 New York.
As tension within the Republican camp grows, the New York Post reported that Curtis Sliwa continues to receive strong support from key party figures, including Andrea Catsimatidis, chair of the New York GOP committee. In a sign of internal division, county chairs issued a joint statement expressing their support, saying Republicans across every borough stand united behind Curtis Sliwa for Mayor of New York City.
