Residents in Dallas and surrounding areas in north central and northeast Texas should brace for blustery conditions as the National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Wind Advisory. The advisory, which is set to be in effect from noon today until 6 PM CDT Wednesday, warns of northwest winds ranging from 20 to 30 mph and gusts that could reach up to 45 mph. According to the NWS advisory, "Unsecured outdoor items may be blown around in the wind," and "Driving on area roadways may become difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles."
Those venturing outside might want to securely fasten any lightweight objects, such as trash cans and lawn furniture, to prevent them from being tossed about by the wind. The weather service also notes that small tree limbs could break and cause damage. It is recommended that residents take necessary precautions to minimize potential risks due to the windy conditions. The forecast advises boaters to use extra caution on area lakes during the advisory period.
The windy weather coincides with a generally sunny forecast in the region. Temperatures are predicted to fluctuate, starting with a rise to near 74 degrees by 10 am today, then falling to around 67 in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Adding to these variable temperatures, it's expected that sunny skies will continue through the week with highs ranging from the mid-60s to near 80, and lows hovering between the mid-40s and mid-50s.
While the advisory remains in place, drivers should exercise caution, as the high winds can make to quickly become challenging, especially when maneuvering high-profile vehicles. The forecast also includes clear conditions for the evenings, with northwest winds of 15 to 20 mph and possible gusts as high as 35 mph tonight. The advisory emphasizes taking "Precautionary/Preparedness Actions" to ensure that the resident's safety remains the top priority during this time of particularly strong winds.
