The Louisiana State Police announced the promotion of Command Pilot Darrell “Dean” LeVergne to lead the agency’s Air Support Section within Special Operations, effective last Tuesday, according to a statement by State Police Superintendent Colonel Robert P. Hodges.

As per the Louisiana State Police's Faceboook post, LeVergne joined the Louisiana State Police in 1999 and has served in various roles, including Troop I Patrol, the SWAT team, and the Bureau of Investigations. He became part of the Air Support Unit in 2008 and was later promoted to master pilot before assuming his new leadership position.

The Air Support Unit operates six airplanes and nine helicopters equipped with Night Vision technology, Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) cameras, and high-intensity searchlights. These tools are used to assist law enforcement agencies across Louisiana in aerial operations.

The Louisiana State Police congratulated LeVergne on his promotion and thanked him for his continued service and contribution to public safety.
