Denton City Council is set to host a public hearing on a proposed zoning change that could transform parts of the city's southern downtown area. The proposed zoning shift would reclassify approximately 43.7 acres of land for mixed-use development, potentially paving the way for new residential and commercial opportunities in the region.
Currently scheduled for October 21 at 6:30 pm, the council will actively consider an ordinance for the zoning change from Public Facilities (PF) District to Mixed-Use Downtown (MD) District on roughly 1.08 acres and from Mixed-Use Neighborhood (MN) District to Mixed-Use Downtown (MD) District on about 42.62 acres. This change is eyed as a move to align with the Denton 2040 Comprehensive Plan, aiming to boost growth and diversify the local economy.
In anticipation of the public hearing, the City of Denton has provided a contact for inquiries, along with an option for interested parties to participate in the hearing. According to the City of Denton on their website, residents may call (940) 349-8600 for more details or visit the city's public meeting page for information on how to get involved in the public hearing process.
