As Dia de los Muertos approaches, cultural celebrations pivot to the digital realm with The Covey's first-ever virtual ofrenda, set against a backdrop of lively music and dance. The traditional Mexican holiday, which focuses on gatherings of family and friends to remember those who have died, is getting a tech-savvy twist with Eternamente's collaborative online tribute. The event scheduled for October 30 will feature Mariachi Garibaldi and Ballet Folklorico del Rio Grande, as reported by the City of Provo.
Excitement builds as tickets are still up for grabs despite sell-outs in other locales, promising a unique experience filled with Mayan and Incan iconography and heartfelt expressions on family and loss, the attendees are invited to share photos of departed loved ones for the digital ofrenda. This interactive element is designed to make them an integral part of the celebration, allowing those present to simultaneously mourn and commemorate amidst the festivities. This fusion of traditional practices with modern technology offers a space for joyous remembrance right at the crux of cultural preservation and contemporary innovation.
"This digital ofrenda will provide a key moment for the performance, allowing patrons to both grieve and celebrate their personal loved ones in a moment of joy, community, and unity," as per the City of Provo.
