In a modest ceremony marked by the promise of continuity and community dedication, the Eden Prairie Police Department has welcomed a fresh face to its ranks. Deputy Chief Chris Wood swore in the department's newest addition, Officer Becca Redman, who comes with not just credentials but also a known presence within the department's walls.

Officer Redman is no stranger to Eden Prairie streets, having served as a community service officer with the EPPD since June 2024. A local graduate from Sibley East High School, her academic journey carried her through the University of Northwestern, St. Paul, earning a bachelor's degree that straddles the realm of psychology and criminal justice. Following her four-year stint, she pursued a law enforcement certificate from Hennepin Technical College – the alma mater shared by 26 current officers on the EPPD team, according to the department's latest blog post.

The road ahead for Officer Redman includes an immersive 3-4 month introduction to the daily rigors of police work through the department's field training program. Her prior tenure with the EPPD as a community service officer brings a layer of experience that will no doubt inform her new journey in law enforcement.

Upon completing her training, Officer Redman will be tasked with patrolling independently, securing streets alongside other officers who once wore the same shoes as community service officers. It's a system of growth reflective of the department's investment in its own, nurturing the seedlings from within the garden they so earnestly tend to, with Officer Redman now poised to contribute her season of service to the Eden Prairie community.
