The City of Edmond has begun installing its first set of wayfinding signs to help residents and visitors navigate local attractions such as parks, schools, sports facilities, and downtown areas. A total of 100 signs are being placed across the city as part of the first phase of a wayfinding plan that began in 2017.
As per the City of Edmond website, the signs are designed to reflect Edmond’s identity, featuring a consistent font and a railroad tie motif referencing the city’s history. Funding for the project includes $750,000 from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and a $500,000 grant from the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG).
Developed by MERJE Design, the signs are modular and designed to break away safely if struck by a vehicle. Each sign’s height and lettering were planned based on visibility and speed limit standards. City officials say the new signage will improve navigation, safety, and accessibility throughout Edmond.
