Food truck operators in Edmond, Oklahoma, are preparing for new regulatory requirements. The Edmond Fire Department announced yesterday that a two-day inspection event will take place later this month to help owners meet standards under the Food Truck Freedom Act (House Bill 1076), which takes effect on November 1.
According to the Edmond City website, food trucks classified as mobile food preparation vehicles must pass inspection by three agencies: the State Fire Marshal, the LPG Administration, and the relevant State or City/County Health Department.
The inspection event is scheduled for October 20 and 21 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Edmond Fire Training Facility. It aims to provide a single location for food truck operators to complete all required inspections.
Operators unsure whether their vehicles qualify as mobile food preparation vehicles are advised to contact the proper authorities for clarification. The term applies to trailers or vehicles that prepare food and beverages, are mounted and road-approved, and remain at one physical location for no more than twelve hours, or up to fourteen days on private property.
The Edmond Fire Department expects strong participation and encourages food truck owners to arrive early. Contact details for the State Fire Marshal, LPG Administration, and local health departments are available through the Edmond Fire Department for further information.
