Robin Severance Lopez, the estranged wife of the suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez, has found herself under arrest yet again. This time, the charge is connected to allegedly providing false information on a bail application, according to ClickOrlando. Lopez, who was initially arrested in June for her alleged involvement in a multimillion-dollar illegal gambling operation, was re-arrested after being released on bond in July.
Following the arrest after 3 p.m. at her St. Cloud home, Lopez is now set to appear before a judge, as her attorney prepares to possibly see her transferred to the Lake County Jail. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office executed the latest arrest warrant on behalf of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. It was reported by WESH that Michelle Yard, Lopez's attorney, had "no idea that deputies would be arriving to her house or that statewide was pursuing any additional charge."
The backstory to this arrest includes Lopez's estranged husband, Marcos Lopez, who pleaded not guilty to racketeering charges following his own arrest and ensuing suspension from his position as sheriff by Gov. Ron DeSantis. The illegal gambling activities, reportedly spanning from August 2019 to at least August 2024, were part of an operation generating over $21.6 million in illegal proceeds, as stated by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier.
Michelle Yard illustrated her client's situation, saying, "She was home with her child, and you know, just a normal afternoon," before deputies took Lopez into custody. The bond in question was for $400,000, which Lopez had been granted previously. Yard is adamant in her client's defense, asserting, as per WESH, "No," when asked if there was anything that could be false on the bond application.
The investigation into the alleged illegal gambling operation, which resulted in Lopez's initial charges, implicated numerous individuals alongside the suspended sheriff. As Yard expresses her frustrations with the opaque nature of the charges and the sealed information, Lopez awaits her court appearance, with the hope of shedding light on the new charges laid upon her.
