For parents and caregivers in Faribault, ensuring the safety of their children in the car is about to get a little easier, as Rice County Public Health teams up with the Faribault Fire Department to hold a car seat checkup event. On Thursday, Nov. 6, from 3-5 p.m., trained child passenger safety technicians will be on hand at the Faribault Fire Station to perform free checks on car seats, ensuring they're installed correctly and haven’t been outgrown.
The event, which was published on the Rice County website, not only offers safety checks but may also connect families in need with a resource for a free car seat, equipped with safety features that adequately serve the child's current size and weight, driving home the point that safety cannot be compromised due to economic constraints. The checks will be conducted at 122 Second St. NW, Faribault, within the protective quarters of the fire station.
Interested parties are encouraged to book an appointment in advance by contacting Ilwad, either by phoning 507-333-3818 or through an email to [email protected]. However, walk-ins are also welcome on the day of the event; follow the posted signs to partake in the services offered.
Highlighting its commitment to "protect, promote and improve the health of ALL individuals and families in our community," Rice County Public Health underscores its broader mission with this initiative, which not only ensures the immediate safety of children but also engages with the community on a fundamental level, they work towards a safer and more informed public sphere, where knowledge and resources are made abundant and accessible to all who find themselves within the warmth of its embrace.
