The Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management is opening a FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the West Allis Senior Center to assist residents affected by recent flooding. Starting Monday next week, the center at 7001 W. National Ave. will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and will close on Sundays.

According to the City of West Allis, the DRC will operate in the Multipurpose Room and remain open through October 31. Residents can meet with federal representatives to apply for aid, check the status of FEMA applications, and receive information about the appeals process. Assistance is also available online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362.

Due to the DRC’s operation, several regular Senior Center activities will be relocated or paused. Arthritis Exercise will move to the upstairs Conference Room, while Chair Yoga on Tuesdays and Qi Gong on Thursdays will be temporarily suspended. Line Dancing and Cardio Drumming will shift to the Main Hall, and Dartball will move to the Game Room. Zoom Yoga on Thursdays will continue as scheduled.
