
An alleged attack using a pickaxe took place on Thursday morning, when a 19-year-old man from Fillmore was arrested after supposedly attempting to kill a woman in the 200 block of East Telegraph Road, KTLA reports. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office detailed that deputies found the adult female victim with severe injuries, indicating a violent encounter with the tool. She was consequently rushed to a local hospital for the urgent care she needed to treat her injuries.
Identified by authorities as Juan Carlos Saucedo, the accused was previously released from custody for felony resisting a peace officer and after the incident, law enforcement was able to apprehend him within an hour of attempting to flee the crime scene, which is said to be his residence, he reportedly tried to escape on foot but diligent local citizens and law enforcement effort culminated in his capture near Pole Creek and Fourth Street.
According to a news release by the sheriff's office, further investigation at Saucedo's home, facilitated by a search warrant, turned up supplementary evidence connecting him to the attempted murder. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude towards the community for their help and ongoing support in this and other cases, emphasizing the importance of the public’s assistance in solving crimes.
The suspect now faces serious legal charges, and with a search warrant served at the same location as the aggravated assault, investigators discovered even more evidence tying the suspect to the crime, this indicated a premeditated aspect as inferred by the additional evidence gathered by Ventura County Crime Scene Unit, Saucedo is being held at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility and is expected in court on upcoming dates for these grave allegations.
