Yesterday morning, a traffic collision involving a Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) bus and another vehicle resulted in five people being injured. According to information obtained by WBNS, the incident occurred at the intersection of Parsons Avenue and Bryden Road in East Columbus around 12:19 a.m.
Emergency services responded to the crash, transporting two individuals to Nationwide Children's Hospital and another to Grant Medical Center, all of whom the dispatcher described as "stable." In a confusing ordeal, two additional victims were taken to Grant Medical Center, one was in critical condition, and the other in serious condition. It was reported by The Columbus Dispatch that among the injured, two were children who were also in stable condition following the crash.
The collision's specifics have yet to be fully disclosed. Still, The Columbus Dispatch revealed that the vehicle carrying the four injured, including the children, ended up alongside the road, entangled in the bushes beside a brick building on Bryden Road. The person driving COTA coach 1418 was reportedly the sole occupant of the bus and, fortunately, emerged from the incident unharmed.
While the Columbus police have begun an investigation into the cause of the collision, no further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the crash or the identities of the individuals involved were immediately available. Reporting from NBC4i indicated that with injuries ranging from stable to critical, the crash has indeed shaken the Olde Towne East community, whose nights are typically unmarred by such violent disruptions of peace.
