Marking a shift towards recognizing the histories and contributions of America's first inhabitants, the City of Flagstaff has announced it will host an Indigenous Peoples Day celebration this month. On Monday, October 13, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the city will welcome attendees to a special event focused on "From Policy to Prosperity: Indigenous Leadership in a Changing Landscape," according to the City of Flagstaff recent press release.
High on the agenda for the day are presentations featuring Vice-Mayor Doreen Garlid, Dine’, from the City of Tempe. Details have been light, but expect cultural shares that include vibrant traditional songs and dances integral to Indigenous communities. For those with an appetite for knowledge as well as sustenance, lunch will be provided. All of this will unfold at the Elks Lodge, situated at 2101 N San Francisco St.
