The National Weather Service in Fort Worth issued a flood watch for portions of North and Central Texas, effective from Friday evening through Saturday afternoon. According to the National Weather Service, areas along and east of the I-35 corridor could experience flooding due to excessive rainfall. The forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today, mainly after 4 pm, with new rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible tonight.

As the flood watch remains in effect across the region, cities including Dallas, Fort Worth, Decatur, and Waco may witness floods triggered by expected heavy rainfall. "Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations," the watch warns. Some areas, suffering from poor drainage, might encounter urban flooding, with creeks and streams potentially rising out of their banks. After 10 pm tonight, showers and possibly a thunderstorm are predicted, with a low around 64 and an east southeast wind around 10 mph, gusts as high as 20 mph, as reported by the National Weather Service.

Residents are advised to stay alert for possible flood warnings and be prepared to act should flooding develop. "Flooding may occur in poor-drainage and urban areas," reiterates the National Weather Service forecast, reminding those living in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant. Particular attention should be given to Saturday's weather, with a likelihood of showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 7 am, followed by a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 7 am. The cloud coverage is expected to clear as the day progresses with a high near 76 and a south southeast wind around 10 mph.

Looking ahead, the weather service anticipates conditions to improve gradually over the weekend into next week. Sunday is forecasted to be mostly sunny with a high near 79, followed by a mostly clear night with a low around 60. The start of the week heralds mostly sunny skies carrying through to Thursday, providing residents a respite from the stormy weather that has wielded its impact on the region over the past days.
