Dallas Broils: Weeklong 100-Degree Heat, Ozone Alert and No Rain in Sight

Dallas is waking up to clear skies before another punishing stretch of triple-digit heat takes over North Texas. Today’s high is expected to reach about 102 degrees, with the heat index also climbing to around 102. Rain chances are nearly nonexistent, so shaded patios and air conditioning will be doing most of the weekend’s heavy lifting.

Saturday Heat Peaks Near 102

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth forecasts sunny conditions today, with temperatures reaching 102 degrees before easing only slightly through the afternoon. South-southeast winds will generally stay between 0 and 10 mph, while Saturday night remains mostly clear with a low near 80.

Tomorrow will bring little relief, with sunshine and a high near 101. Winds from the south could gust up to 20 mph, adding a bit of movement to the air without doing much to cool it down.

Ozone Action Day And Elevated Fire Risk

The Dallas-Fort Worth area is under an Ozone Action Day today because atmospheric conditions are expected to support higher ozone pollution, according to the National Weather Service. Residents can help reduce pollution by combining errands, avoiding drive-through lines when possible, and limiting strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.

The weather service also says the fire threat will remain elevated through next week as hot temperatures, low humidity and worsening drought conditions persist. No heat advisory is currently in effect, but people spending time outdoors should take frequent breaks, drink water and watch for signs of heat illness.

Triple-Digit Heat Hangs On Through Friday

The forecast keeps Dallas near or above 100 degrees most of the week, with highs around 100 next Monday through Wednesday, 101 next Thursday and 102 next Friday. Overnight lows will mostly hover around 80, offering limited recovery after sunset.

Rain chances remain close to zero across the forecast period, generally ranging from 0% to 5%. For now, the outlook is less about storm timing than managing a long run of relentless sunshine and heat.
