Fort Worth is ready to rebrand a piece of its cityscape, as a one-mile stretch of White Settlement Road will soon take on a new name. The Fort Worth City Council has given the green light to rename this section in conjunction with the expansive Westside Village development project, which promises new dining spots, a hotel, public spaces, and a substantial addition of office space. The development isn't just aesthetic; it's also functional, as it brings infrastructure improvements aimed at resolving longstanding stormwater and flood issues in the surrounding neighborhood.
According to the City of Fort Worth, the Westside Village development is significant enough that it has triggered a street renaming, following in the footsteps of other local projects like Clearfork and Bell, and Tarleton. All have played their parts, reshaping Fort Worth by renaming streets to carve out a more distinct identity. Fort Worth City Hall itself is no stranger to such changes, having swapped its street number to 100 Fort Worth Trail after taking over the Chesapeake Energy headquarters' former digs.
Now, with the application approved, Fort Worth city staff are tasked with overseeing the renaming process. This involves a slew of departments and services, such as the Fire Department, Legal Department, GIS, Development Services, and utilities, among others, to keep the city’s services running smoothly during the change. Area residents and local services, including mail delivery and emergency services, will be notified to ensure no interruption occurs, in addition to updating online platforms like Waze and Google Maps.
