A tense chase unfolded in the Bay Area yesterday when Fremont Police officers pursued a car linked to a robbery outside a bank on Mission Blvd. According to a social media post from the Fremont Police Department, the pursuit began shortly after the vehicle was spotted through automated license plate recognition technology.
After refusing to pull over, the suspect car led the police on a chase that spanned from the I-880 freeway to the streets of San Leandro. Police say the car was involved in a series of non-injury collisions on the highway and within city limits. A cooperation between local and state law enforcement enabled officers to halt the vehicle successfully, apprehending four suspects who attempted to flee on foot.
The incident, which lasted for part of the afternoon and resulted in no injuries, has been linked to another similar robbery that occurred earlier the same day, suggesting a pattern of activity by the suspects in question. The Fremont Police Department has extended thanks to the California Highway Patrol, the San Leandro Police Department, and the Alameda County Sheriff's Office for their aid during the stressful pursuit.
