Commuters in Freemanville can expect a change in their routine as Fulton County Government Water Services begins an essential infrastructure upgrade next week. Starting at 9 a.m. next Monday, Freemanville Road will be closed to traffic in both directions from the Providence Road roundabout to Redd Road, with the closure anticipated to last until 5 p.m. next Friday.
The closure, as reported by the city of Milton, is meant to facilitate the installation of a new water main requiring significant roadwork. Timed strategically to coincide with the Fulton County Schools' Fall Break, the project's schedule aims to reduce impact on daily commutes, according to the City's announcement.
To manage the disruption, a detour route will be in effect. It will reroute southbound traffic on Freemanville onto Redd Road, then Hagood/Bethany Road, and onto Providence Road. Northbound traffic will take Providence to Bethany/Hagood, then Redd Road. This detour mirrors the earlier configuration set when the water main was originally installed this year.
Additionally, residents within the affected area of Freemanville Road can rest assured, access to their properties will be maintained throughout the project's duration. The city has asked for the community's patience, expressing gratitude upfront, "The aim is that this days-long road closure will make it easier for crews to finish their work faster, and safer," noted in their advisory.
