
A tragic incident occurred on Monday morning in Gastonia when a woman in her mid-50s was struck and killed while trying to cross Gaston Avenue. The Gastonia Police Department reported that the collision took place at the intersection of Gaston and Airline Avenue, around 7 a.m. QC News detailed that the woman was hit by an Infinity as she attempted to cross the street.
The identity of the pedestrian, as well as that of the driver, has not been released to the public as of yet. However, early indications from the police suggest that no charges are expected to be filed in connection with the incident. As WCNC confirms, officers are actively working to notify the victim’s family, and have described investigation as ongoing.
Details about the circumstances leading up to the incident remain sparse, but local authorities are piecing together the events of that morning. WBTV reports that the police have not yet provided information whether the woman was within a crosswalk or if there were any contributing environmental factors at the time of the collision.
