It seems that the Germantown Police Department had a mix of quiet days and frantic activity, according to a recent report on their weekly activity. Notably, on Friday, October 3, officers arrested an individual for unlawful possession of a firearm on McVay Road and another for taking merchandise on Poplar Avenue. Yet, Saturday passed by without a single crime being reported.
The peacefulness was short-lived, as another incident of merchandise theft was observed the following day at the same Poplar Avenue location. Additionally, a report of property thievery from a business surfaced from the 7500 block of Poplar Avenue. The subsequent weekdays brought varied unlawful activities, including forgery, identity theft, the illicit possession of narcotics, and vehicle-related crimes.
Significantly, reported instances of identity compromise cropped up on multiple occasions throughout the week, with victims reporting the misuse of their personal information both for obtaining funds and during a traffic stop. The trend of merchandise theft persisted, too, with additional arrests taking place on Poplar Avenue.
A concerning occurrence interrupted the weekday routine when officers responded to a physical altercation at a business located on South Germantown Road, highlighting the unpredictable nature of public safety duties. Still in the realm of unpredictability, motorists in Germantown faced challenges as well, with a total of 17 crashes reported over the span of the week.
