The City of Grand Prairie is reaching out to its residents for a celebration of arboreal giants with The Grandest Tree Competition. Launched yesterday, as reported by the city's official news outlet, this contest encourages locals to submit their picks for the most magnificent tree in the area.
Entrants are being asked to complete a submission form and upload a photo of their nominated tree. The contest judges will base their decisions on a variety of factors, such as the tree's height, trunk circumference, estimated age, branching structure, and overall health. According to Grand Prairie's announcement, the winner will receive a signed certificate and a swag bag filled with city-branded goodies.
Ray Cerda is the point of contact for the competition, and he can be reached at (972) 237-8100 or via email at [email protected] for those with inquiries. The motivation behind the challenge is not just to find the stoutest or oldest tree but to raise environmental awareness and shed light on the local urban forest.
