A man from Greenfield, Tennessee, is now facing grave charges, as a federal grand jury in Jackson has handed down an indictment for multiple child sexual exploitation offenses. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Tennessee shared the indictment news, accusing James Anthony Morris, 57, of crimes involving minors in sexually explicit activities.
As the legal proceedings unfold in the United States District Court before Judge J. Daniel Breen, records indicate Morris is up against three counts of using minors to produce sexually explicit materials alongside accusations involving distribution, attempted receipt of such content, and efforts to entice and coerce what he thought was a minor to engage in sexual activity; he also faces charges for possession of a cell phone with minors engaged in explicit acts, these details were obtained from the Department of Justice website.
Should the court find Morris guilty on all counts, he is looking at the possibility of a life sentence without parole, a repercussion that aligns with the severity of federal crimes.
Contributing to the investigation of the case are members of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), the District Attorney's Office for the 27th Judicial District, as well as local police departments all of which combined their efforts to uncover the disturbing evidence leading to the current charges, the case evolved thanks in part to coordinative law enforcement uniting to address the horrific exploitation of children.
Authorities have opened the door for the public to assist in the investigation; TBI Special Agent Sarah Turner can be reached at [email protected] or by calling 1-800-TBI-FIND for anyone with relevant information to contribute to the case. It should be remembered that, as per the justice system's principles, Morris remains innocent until proven guilty through due process, a reminder given by the prosecuting Assistant United States Attorneys Josh Morrow and Caroline Parish.
