Hawaii's own Governor Josh Green is embarking on an international journey this October with an agenda packed with diplomatic charm and a slice of sunny state promotion. According to an official news release from the Office of the Governor, the Hawaiian head kicks things off in Japan on Saturday, October 4, where business meets leisure on his itinerary. Governor Green will engage with Japanese officials, seeking to bolster tourism by inviting Japanese travelers and athletes to Hawaii's welcoming shores.
Governor Green will join Okinawan leaders to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Okinawan immigration to Hawaii. Along with honoring shared history, he will also strengthen the Hawaii–Okinawa Partnership, focusing on clean and efficient energy development—blending tradition with progress. At the invitation of Salesforce Chair and CEO Marc Benioff, Governor Green is set to grace the stage at the Dreamforce Conference, as repotyrf by the Office of the Governor.
While Governor Green is cultivating relationships and sharing wisdom, back at home, Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke will take the helm. Serving as acting Governor from midday October 4 until Governor Green's slated return to Honolulu on October 15, ensuring the continuity of governance doesn’t get lost in the international shuffle, as per the Office of the Governor.
