
A rollover truck accident this morning on the eastbound 210 Freeway near Roxford in Sylmar prompted a hazardous materials incident when the vehicle, which was carrying pool supplies and chemicals, spilled its contents on to the road, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). The incident, logged at 11:12 AM, resulted in no injuries as the single patient in the vehicle declined LAFD transport; however, the spill led to an investigation owing to the potential danger.
Following the rollover, traffic conditions on the eastbound lanes of the 210 were significantly impacted, drivers were advised to seek alternate routes or expect delays as emergency crews worked to address the chemical hazard on the scene, which included members of LAFD's specialized Hazardous Materials squad, as per the same LAFD alert.
After a thorough evaluation, the LAFD Hazardous Materials team concluded at 12:37 PM that there was no ongoing threat from the pool chemicals that had spilled, this detail emerges from a second alert put forth by LAFD. The quick response and handling of the incident meant that all lanes could be reopened and control of the situation handed over to the California Highway Patrol and the California Department of Transportation.
