
The Sheetz convenience store at 2387 Springs Road in Hickory was the scene of an armed robbery yesterday. The Hickory Police Department reported that a male was approached by four individuals at the gas pumps, forced into his vehicle, and later released nearby.
After the victim was released near a nearby business, the City of Hickory reported that law enforcement issued a "Be on the Lookout" (BOLO) alert for the stolen vehicle. The vehicle was located in Rowan County, where deputies from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office pursued it, resulting in the arrest of three suspects.
Jalen Dontae Burnette, 19, and Devin Michael Carr, 20, both from Hickory, and Bryan Galvan Ugalde, 22, from Winston-Salem, were arrested in connection with the incident. They face multiple felony charges, including robbery with a firearm, second-degree kidnapping, larceny of a motor vehicle, and larceny of a firearm, according to the Hickory Police Department.
All three individuals are currently being held at the Catawba County Detention Facility.
