Wisconsin’s Horicon Marsh Explorium will celebrate its 10th anniversary tomorrow, marking a decade of environmental education and public engagement. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced that the event will feature a full day of activities highlighting the marsh’s history and conservation role.
The celebration begins at 8 a.m. with a bird banding demonstration running until 11 a.m. An open house will follow from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring family-friendly activities and exhibits about the marsh’s history and development.
The Horicon Marsh Explorium, completed in August 2015, offers interactive displays that trace the marsh’s history thousands of years before European settlement. Visitors can take photos with Marshall, the snapping turtle ambassador, and experience a simulated airboat ride through the marsh.
From 5 to 6:30 p.m., attendees can participate in evening bird watching. A food truck will be available from 11 a.m. until supplies run out.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources stated that all activities are free, emphasizing its goal to make environmental education accessible to the public.
