A weak cool front moving through the area is expected to bring rain and slightly cooler conditions to Houston this weekend. On Friday, temperatures will stay in the upper 80s to lower 90s with a 30% chance of showers and storms, as reported by Click2Houston. The rainfall will help ease the region’s recent dry conditions and elevated fire risk.
Rain chances are expected to increase Saturday afternoon and night as a front moves closer to Houston, bringing a 50 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms that may affect outdoor plans, according to the National Weather Service. Most of the rain is expected to stay north of the city. Several southeastern Texas counties have issued burn bans due to dry conditions, and residents are advised to avoid spark-causing activities and not leave fires unattended. Increasing humidity and possible rain later in the week may help reduce the dry conditions.
Houston will see sunny days with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s and mostly clear nights with lows in the low 70s. Cooler temperatures are not expected until late in the ten-day forecast. Tropical Storm Lorenzo, located in the central Atlantic with sustained winds of 60 mph, is expected to weaken and does not pose a threat to the region, as mentioned by Click2Houston.
