An Orange County retail theft ring has been dismantled thanks to the vigilant efforts of the Irvine Police Department and Spectrum Security partners. On a routine patrol of a Spectrum shopping center's parking lot, officers noted a van with expired out-of-state plates. As the day unfolded, the suspects' casual trip to the mall took a decisive turn.

According to the Irvine Police Department's Facebook post, their Spectrum officers teamed up with Spectrum Security associates, monitored the group's activities as they moved from one store to another. It was the sharp eye of a loss prevention officer who set the trap, spotting the suspects pocketing merchandise, a move which triggered swift police action. The suspects attempted to slip away, but the officers were quick to stop them in their tracks.

Upon searching the suspects' vehicle, law enforcement found a stash of pilfered goods from several high-end retailers, including Lululemon, Sephora, Victoria's Secret, and Ralph Lauren, all amounting to a loot worth over $4,000. The ill-gotten gains were, through due process, now evidence of a clear intent to redistribute the wealth of products without the burden of transactional exchange — in simpler terms, theft.

The culprits, identified as 55-year-old Dayana Rosa Hernandez and 52-year-old Luz Dary Soto, both hailing from Los Angeles, and 20-year-old Michel Rivera Taborda, of Anaheim, were subsequently arrested and charged with organized retail theft – a charge that presents a narrative of preparatory plotting and coordination amongst them. Following their arrest, they were booked at the Orange County Jail, an involuntary change of residence.
