The City of Jacksonville announced the removal of barriers at McCoys Creek Outfall, completing a project designed to reduce flooding by widening and deepening the creek.

The project also includes a new pedestrian bridge, a replaced bulkhead along the creek, and a rebuilt Riverwalk overpass, improving access and connectivity downtown and supporting the future riverfront park. These improvements are part of the Emerald Trail, which will connect green spaces and urban areas for walking, kayaking, and other recreational activities.

The City of Jacksonville's social media update states, "This project will enhance connectivity in Downtown by creating new recreational opportunities and completing yet another link of the Emerald Trail." Residents and visitors will soon be able to enjoy a renewed creek environment with increased opportunities for outdoor activities.
