In a move to seamlessly merge tech with pet adoption, Jacksonville has introduced “JaxPawFinder,” an AI-powered app aimed to expedite the pairing of furry friends with potential owners. According to a statement obtained by the City of Jacksonville's official website, the app is modeled after popular dating services, with a swiping feature to help users find their ideal pet.

Michael Bricker, Chief of Animal Care and Protective Services for the City of Jacksonville, said, "We've always said that the right match saves lives." He continued, "With JaxPawFinder, we're using technology to hopefully make those matches smarter and faster, giving every animal a better shot at finding their perfect home.” The app stands out as the City’s first venture into AI-driven solutions, crafted by their Creative Solutions Team, now up for grabs on both the App Store and Google Play.

Mayor Donna Deegan championed the app as more than just a tech innovation. "This is technology with a heart," Deegan told the City of Jacksonville's news outlet. The intention is clear: to utilize cutting-edge AI to knit closer bonds between humans and animals, cutting down on the time it normally takes for pets to find a loving home.

Using JaxPawFinder is akin to having a personal matchmaker for pet adoptions. Prospective pet parents can enter criteria important to them, such as a pet's age, size, temperament, or energy level. The app will then instantly match them with animals fitting their specifications.
