
A man in Jacksonville's Moncrief area was shot in the buttocks last night after an argument escalated, according to local law enforcement. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to the incident at about 9 p.m. in the 5900 block of Moncrief Road, as reported by News4JAX.
Officials indicated that the victim was involved in a heated exchange when the other individual produced a firearm, and began, to fire multiple shots at him. Remarkably, the victim survived with a non-life-threatening injury after being struck once, pointed out First Coast News. Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office's Sgt. Richardson described the situation as an "isolated incident."
The shooting prompted immediate investigation as detectives were dispatched to the scene to speak with witnesses, and they are now monitoring the area for video surveillance. According to Action News Jax, the victim was taken to a local hospital and listed in critical condition, even though his injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
Details are still forthcoming as this investigation is ongoing, though police believe there is no extended threat to the public from this particular episode. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, is currently receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital.
