On Saturday and next Sunday, the City of Jacksonville's Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) is partnering with the Jacksonville Humane Society for an event at the Prime F. Osborne III Convention Center. The Pet Adoption Festival, the first event of its kind in the community, will feature hundreds of adoptable dogs and cats available for adoption. Both organizations aim to find permanent homes for animals in the city.
Prospective pet adopters can take advantage of waived adoption fees at the convention center located at 1000 Water St from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ACPS will bring more than 80 adoptable pets each day, including puppies, kittens, and adult animals. Potential adopters can also view available animals before the event using the PawFinder App.
ACPS is not only providing pets for adoption but also supporting every step of the process. In a statement released by the City of Jacksonville, ACPS Chief Michael Bricker said, "The Pet Adoption Festival is proof of what happens when Jacksonville comes together for animals." He added, "By teaming up with the Jacksonville Humane Society and our surrounding shelter partners, we're creating one united front for lifesaving. Hundreds of pets will find loving homes, and we will also be able to open up space for the next ones who need us."
The city shelter will be closed on the days of the event as staff focus on the Pet Adoption Festival. Regular hours will resume on Monday, October 27, from 12 to 7 p.m. ACPS volunteers and staff will be available throughout the weekend to assist adopters in finding pets.
