The city of Pigeon Forge has welcomed a familiar face into a new, permanent role within its fire department. Josh Carr, serving over two decades with the Pigeon Forge Fire Department, has been named the new fire chief, as per an announcement made yesterday. Carr had been functioning as the interim fire chief since July, following the retirement of former chief Tony Watson.
According to an article by WATE, Carr's climb within the department, starting as a volunteer and ultimately reaching the rank of battalion chief before taking over the interim role, has been marked by acknowledged leadership skills and dedication to community service. Pigeon Forge City Manager David Wear in a statement praised Carr, "For the past several months, Josh has served as Interim Fire Chief, leading with integrity, professionalism, and a clear vision for the future."
Josh Carr's journey began humbly, offering his services freely like so many before him, only to ascend through solidarity and merit within the ranks of the firehouse. In a news post shared by The Mountain Press, David Wear highlighted Carr's upward trajectory, "Josh began his journey with the department as a volunteer and has steadily risen through the ranks, earning the respect and trust of his peers every step of the way."
Carr's accomplishments extend beyond professional circles, as authorities also hail his commitment to familial roles. In a statement to WVLT, Wear said, "In addition to his professional achievements, Josh is a devoted husband and father, roles he holds with as much pride and dedication as he does his work in the fire service." These personal reflections mirror Wear's confidence in Carr's ability to usher the department into a future that honors its traditions while embracing innovation and strength.
