
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Knoxville has issued a forecast indicating that residents should expect wet weather conditions with showers likely throughout most of this week. According to the latest update from the NWS website, today's weather will feature showers after 10 am, with temperatures hovering near 56 degrees and northeast winds blowing at 5 to 10 mph, gusting up to 20 mph. The chance of precipitation stands at a firm 90%, with new rainfall amounting between a quarter and half an inch possible.
Tonight, showers are expected to continue, mainly before 11 pm, bringing low temperatures around 46 degrees. North wind will shift around 5 mph, becoming southwest in the evening. The chance of precipitation remains high at 90%, pointing to an ongoing wet trend. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible, according to an NWS update.
Moving into Thursday, there's a 60% chance of showers mainly before 2pm, with a high near 54 and gusty winds from the west at 10 to 15 mph. The outlook for Thursday night shows a lower chance of precipitation at 30%, but showers may persist before 8 pm. Going into Friday, a shift towards more favorable conditions begins, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 58 degrees, plus west winds at a similarly brisk pace as earlier in the week.
In addition to weather forecasts, the NWS has also issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for parts of southwest North Carolina, east Tennessee, and southwest Virginia for today and tonight. "Strong winds are expected in the Tennessee mountains and adjacent foothills from early this morning until the evening hours with gusts up to 50 mph expected," cautioned the NWS statement. A wind advisory has been put in place for these areas, signaling the need for heightened awareness and caution. Over the next few days, residents can anticipate an easing of hazardous conditions, with no further alarming weather expected from Thursday through Tuesday.
