
Early this morning, Los Angeles Fire Department crews were dispatched to a residential fire at 1728 S Burlington Avenue in the Pico-Union area. According to the LAFD alert, the incident (INC#0179) was called in at 03:50 AM, involving a two-story craftsman-style home with a heavy fire blazing on the first floor. Firefighters from stations including FS 13 and Batt 11 were reported to have been in the offensive mode to tackle the flames that had engulfed the residence.
With determined effort, the 44 firefighters on scene were able to completely extinguish the fire within a timeframe of approximately 29 minutes. The follow-up alert by LAFD, known as KNOCKDOWN, stated that "44 firefighters located, isolated and extinguished the fire in 29 minutes with no injuries reported." This incident drew resources from multiple emergency response teams, including engine companies E10, E11, E13, E15, and several tactical teams such as E211 and E215. Specialized units HM21, RA13, RA15, and RA813 were also involved in the operation to ensure any hazards were handled and victims received immediate medical attention.
Thankfully, despite the intensity of the fire, no injuries were reported by the department. This is a testament to the swift and effective work of the LAFD and the concerted efforts of the emergency crews who responded. The cause of the fire at this time remains under investigation. The incident occurred within Council District 1, and Battalion Chief 1 (BC1), along with BC11, took charge of the scene, managing the coordination and ensuring the safety of the personnel involved.
