Yesterday evening, a structure fire erupted at a one-story single-family dwelling located at 121 W 47th Pl, in the South Park district. As reported by the Los Angeles Fire Department's alert, the blaze started around 08:19 PM, posing a threat to an adjacent two-story center hall apartment building initially, which was later updated as a neighboring school. Firefighters from the LAFD initiated an offensive attack against the flames.
The firefighting teams, deployed under the command of Battalion 13, worked diligently, managing to suppress the fire swiftly in spite of the heavy smoke and intense heat, preventing any further damage to the nearby structures. The same LAFD update confirmed that within 18 minutes, 38 firefighters achieved a knockdown, containing the fire to a single room in the dwelling. There was no ensuing damage to the school that had been at risk of exposure to the fire, which is a testament to the quick and effective response of the fire department.
However, the same LAFD report stated that two individuals found on the scene received evaluations for unknown injuries, though they were not anticipated to be transported to any hospital.
The LAFD assures that there's nothing further at this time and updates will be provided as they become available.
