Lawton Emergency Communications has upgraded its system with the launch of the new Carbyne 911 platform yesterday. According to the City of Lawton’s official announcement, the system enhances emergency response by providing real-time translation for non-English speakers, allowing dispatchers to assist callers more effectively regardless of language barriers.
The new technology also enables dispatchers, with permission, to access a caller’s phone camera for a live view of the situation. This visual support helps first responders better assess and respond to emergencies. Additionally, the system allows two-way text messaging for situations where speaking may not be possible or safe.
Carbyne 911 also improves location accuracy, provides transcription capabilities, and enhances data sharing between agencies, all aimed at reducing response times and improving coordination. The City of Lawton stated that the system’s implementation strengthens the city’s emergency response network and supports its ongoing efforts to improve public safety.
