Lewisville residents in the 75057 neighborhoods may soon see a boost in child care services, thanks to a new partnership between the City of Lewisville and a nonprofit, Groundwork Outreach. This collaboration is set to identify child care needs through a comprehensive survey, as reported by the City's official press release. With a grant from the International City/County Managers Association’s Economic Mobility and Opportunity Cohort, this initiative is aimed at lending an ear to the concerns and necessities of families regarding child care provisions.
Starting November 4, Groundwork Outreach representatives will canvas the neighborhood, knocking on doors, which will continue until December 15, collecting data directly from residents in an effort that the city hopes will lead to informed and effective policy changes. With a population of 16,800 and encompassed by 6,600 households, the insights gleaned here can drive the evolution of future programs, a point emphasized by Marie Appel, Founder of Groundwork Outreach, who told the City of Lewisville, “Childcare is a cornerstone for family stability and community growth.”
