Wayne Ferguson Plaza in Old Town Lewisville has officially become a hub for community fitness, hosting free weekly exercise classes open to all. It's part of a concerted effort to activate public spaces as outlined in the city's Lewisville 2025 vision plan. For those looking to stretch and strengthen, you're in luck – a variety of classes ranging from yoga to bodyweight workouts are on the roster, as per the City of Lewisville.
Yoga enthusiasts are welcome every Wednesday at 6 p.m. for an hour of serenity with Blue Anjou Yoga Studios guiding participants through poses for all experience levels. Just remember to bring a mat, a towel, and water. The very next day, on Thursdays at 6:15 p.m., fitness buffs can enjoy 45 minutes of Bodyweight Strength Class with Case Cortez. No weights means attendees only need to carry along a fitness mat and some water to break a sweat.
Weekends start early with Pilates in the Plaza, led by Audrey Green-Redier, every Saturday at 8 a.m. Pilates can be a game-changer for anyone looking to improve their flexibility and core strength, and these classes are designed to evolve along with the attendees' abilities. And for those intrigued by a more flowing form of exercise, Tai Chi classes take over at 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays, promising an hour of the 16-movement form that emphasizes slow and deliberate motion.
