Commuters and residents are bracing for ongoing disruptions as the extensive construction project on Louisiana Avenue enters a new phase. The stretch from Fire Station #2 to Wayzata Blvd is off-limits to through traffic until November 2025. Road users are advised to follow the posted detour routes while the two-phase improvement project progresses, aiming to enhance local infrastructure.
According to an update released on October 24th, 2025, Phase A will see its second layer of bituminous street pavement paved on Tuesday, October 28, following a week where contractors engaged in topsoil placement. Meanwhile, Phase B is not left behind with curb, driveway, and sidewalk installations already underway. The aggregate base is also receiving attention, prepping it for paving, while signal systems at the intersection with Wayzata Boulevard have begun to take shape.
Updates on the project note that Willow Park is set to benefit from the installation of an underground infiltration stormwater treatment system, improving local water quality. The complex system, placed beneath the baseball field, has been completed, and grading work is now underway, preparing for the installation of the baseball fence and infield gravel.
Residents of the area are expected to see ongoing work as the infiltration system connects to the existing storm sewer in November. However, while bringing environmental benefits, the system "will not go live until 2026," details the project's recent newsletter. In the meantime, private utility companies will be making their own service overhauls within the project zones.
Local officials are urging the public to exercise caution and respect the safety protocols by steering clear of the construction sites. Equipment presence increases risks, and "Safety on a construction site is a shared responsibility," a sentiment echoed through the official channels of communication regarding the upgrades. As the project moves forward, the city extends its apologies for the inevitable inconveniences and appreciates the community's cooperation during these street and utility improvements.
