A man has died following a collision with a car on U.S. Highway 70 East near Spence Avenue in Goldsboro on Saturday night, confirmed the Goldsboro Police Department. The incident was reported at approximately 7:51 p.m. and the man was transported to UNC Health Wayne, where he ultimately passed away from his injuries, the department said. In a statement obtained by CBS17, authorities confirmed that "Impairment was found not to be a factor in this crash."
The driver involved was reportedly headed west when they struck the pedestrian. Details regarding how the accident occurred have yet to be fully revealed, however, as the investigation is ongoing according to Goldsboro Police. The identity of the victim has been withheld pending the notification of his next of kin.
