A fatal shooting in South Philadelphia is currently under police investigation after a man was struck by gunfire yesterday. According to 6ABC, detectives are piecing together the incident that left a 39-year-old man dead after shots rang out along Oregon Avenue, near 7th Street, shortly after 5 PM. While leaving a bar, the man, who has yet to be identified, was shot multiple times.
Companion to the victim, another man who also left the bar with him, escaped physical harm as the bullets found only one target that fatal Monday. Information provided by FOX 29 stated that the police were alerted to the shooting around 5:15 PM, after the two had departed from a local watering hole on the corner of the street. Police are searching for both the shooter and a possible motive for the killing.
The victim, later identified as John Doe, was transported to Jefferson Center City Hospital, where, despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at 5:46 PM, a timeline confirmed by NBC Philadelphia. The investigation is currently ongoing, and the police have not made any arrests in relation to the crime so far.
