
A brutal altercation involving a machete sent a 53-year-old man to the hospital in North Seattle, according to local authorities. Seattle police are currently investigating the violent assault that took place on the evening of Oct. 12. The victim, who sustained severe lacerations to his head and arm, was attacked following a dispute with his ex-girlfriend and her new partner over financial matters. The details of the case were reported following the victim's admission to Swedish Medical Center in Ballard for urgent medical care.
The confrontation escalated when the victim's ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend reportedly began striking him with a machete, resulting in significant injuries. According to the Seattle Police Department's online blotter, the attack occurred around 8:00 p.m. near Northwest 46th Street and 9th Avenue Northwest. After escaping the violent scene in a vehicle with a friend, the victim sought help from the nearby hospital.
The Seattle Police Department's Homicide and Assault Unit was dispatched to the scene, where a 20-foot blood trail was discovered. Investigators processed the location for evidence, but the assailant had fled before their arrival. The Lynnwood Police Department has been engaged to assist in the manhunt for the suspect, who may be residing in the Lynnwood area, but efforts thus far have remained fruitless.
Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that might be pertinent to the investigation. "Anyone with information is asked to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000," the blotter noted, stressing that anonymous tips are also welcomed. As the police comb through evidence and search for leads, the condition of the victim remains a concern as he recovers from the traumatic ordeal.
