The spirit of community care is alive and active in Maple Grove, as the Maple Grove Police Department partners with the public to ensure that the coming winter months are met with warmth, especially for those in need. With this mission in mind, they have launched Justin Morneau’s Winter Warm-Up Coat Drive, welcoming generous residents to drop off new or gently used coats.
Keeping in the tradition of nurturing the local community, the drive started recently and will span until December 14, as indicated by a post on the police department’s official Facebook page. Individuals interested in contributing to the cause can make their drop-offs at the Maple Grove Police Department, located at 12800 Arbor Lakes Parkway, Maple Grove. The gesture of donating a coat might seem small, but it carries the promise of much-needed comfort to less fortunate members of the neighborhood.
As temperatures drop, the drive acts as a reminder that there are easy ways for people to extend help and compassion within their community. Maple Grove residents have shown time and again their readiness to support one another in times of need, and the coat drive offers a direct avenue to do just that. The drive's success relies on the simple yet profound act of reaching into one's closet, instead of deeper into one’s pockets.
"Your donation will make a big difference for those in need this season — thank you for helping spread warmth and kindness," says the Maple Grove Police Department’s social media call-to-action. By bringing a coat to the police station, participants are not only clearing out their closets but are also clearing the way for a neighbor to experience a warmer, more secure winter.
